National Park Authority staff have been working together alongside key stakeholders, including Community Councils for some time now on the Local Development and Land Use Plan. The new plan, the first of its kind in Scotland, will bring planning and land use together to form one integrated plan and will set out not just where development should and shouldn’t happen, but also how land across the National Park could be used, managed and protected for generations to come.

Next week will mark another key milestone on the LDLUP process as we begin to proactively promote the new approach and its aims to a wider audience, including the media, and publish suggested site and ideas received following the open Call for Land, Sites and Ideas on our website, in the interests of transparency. Please note that submissions received from this call are suggestions only at this stage, publication on the National Park Authority website is for awareness only and is not indicative of any assessment of whether they are suitable for inclusion within the Proposed Plan.
We’re hugely excited about the significance the LDLUP represents for the future of the National Park and the people who live, work and care for it. This milestone is just one step in the process of as work towards the plan being finalised in 2028 and we very much look forward to continuing to work alongside all Community Councils going forwards.
In the meantime, we’re keen to ensure you’re fully informed and engaged in the new plan. As such we’ve compiled a briefing pack (attached) which should provide you with all the necessary information you need to help raise awareness of the new approach and encourage others to engage, including attending the upcoming in-person informal engagement drop-ins wewill be hosting in the coming weeks.
